SAT bids farewell to Chief Executive

Published: 10 December 2020

The Shetland Amenity Trust’s Chief Executive, Mat Roberts, is leaving the Trust after almost three years in the job.

Trust Chair, Alastair Hamilton, paid tribute to the work that Mr Roberts has done during his time at the helm and wished him well.

“Under Mat’s leadership the Trust has continued to operate successfully in very difficult financial circumstances.

Along the way he helped the Board create and produce a new strategy as well as overhauling and modernising some of the Trust’s systems and process.

These innovations and initiatives have significantly improved the running of the organisation. For example, he encouraged us to take a close look at the way the Board of Trust works, bringing in independent advice, and that has already led to improvements, with more in hand.

We have much better online access to reports and other material that Trustees require to do their job.

Mr Roberts’ strong personal commitment to sustainability has seen us beginning to address issues such as our carbon footprint.”

Mat Roberts said, “I am delighted to be leaving the Trust in a much better state than I found it and I wish the whole team success in the future”.
