Education
Geopark Shetland aims to:
- Work closely with Shetland Schools to encourage and support Geology and Earth Science Education.
- Liaise with other environmental agencies to take a coordinated approach to education.
- Develop projects, activities and teaching materials that are specific to Shetland.
- Create resources in line with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
To assess current educational initiatives, and identify areas where Geopark Shetland could enhance Geology and Earth Science Education, Geopark Shetland conducted an audit of all Shetland Schools in 2009. As a result of this it was decided to focus attention on the development of resources and educational activities for secondary level pupils. Details can be found on our Schools Activities page.
