Business & Service Sector
With increasing environmental awareness amongst consumers, and the financial savings of office greening, there’s never been a better time to reduce your business’ carbon footprint. With simple and often low-cost techniques your business can improve its competitive edge by driving down costs and making it more attractive to consumers. As well as undertaking our Energy Walk Around checklist, why not try these simple measures today?
Leaving appliances on standby uses more electricity than you may think. Turn off monitors and computers when you’re going to be away from your desk for longer periods.
Try to print double-sided when possible, and remember that anything that’s only been printed on one side can be used again. Reduce your paper needs by saving scrap paper for notebooks.
Turn it Off
Are any desk lamps or lights left on unnecessarily in your workplace? Walk around the office turning off any lamps that aren’t needed. You’ll be amazed how much carbon and money it can save your business.
Leave the Car
Most of us need to use the car regularly but not every journey is necessary. Walk or cycle to local meetings or car share with colleagues going to the same meeting if it is further afield. To save money on the daily commute, why not consider starting a car sharing scheme with other members of your community.
