Microgeneration is the generation of electricity and/or heat on a small scale, using technologies with little or zero carbon emissions. Wind turbines, solar panels and heat pumps are all forms of microgeneration that will help meet your home or office energy requirements, whilst reducing your carbon footprint.
Solar electricity, wind turbines and hydroelectric systems are all eligible for the Feed-in Tariff scheme. This scheme guarantees a minimum payment for all the electricity you generate, as well as a separate payment for any excess electricity you export to the national grid. The Government has also introduced a Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, to reduce the cost of installing renewable heating systems (such as heat pumps and solar water heating).
