Management appointment at Shetland Amenity Trust

Published: 13 February 2017

Jimmy Moncrieff, General Manager of Shetland Amenity Trust for the past 23 years, died on Sunday 5th February, 2017 following a short illness.

Following the retirement of the Trust’s Deputy Manager in December 2016, Mr Andy Steven, Head of Strategy & Innovation, had the Deputy Manager’s duties added to his existing job description recently.  Due to Jimmy’s sad death, Andy will also be the interim Acting General Manager and will ensure that the work of the Trust will continue in the short-term.

The organisation is responsible for the management of Shetland’s premier visitor attractions including Sumburgh Head Visitor Centre and Shetland Museum and Archives; in addition to the county archaeology service, Biological Records Centre and Ranger team. Environmental improvement and architectural heritage teams are also part of the Trust’s remit.

Trust Chairman, Brian Gregson said: “We are pleased to announce this appointment which will ensure that the aims of the Trust will continue to be delivered. A full review of the Trust’s senior management will now take place, but until this is completed, we are confident that the Trust is in good hands.”
