2016 Pop-up Bookshop

Pop in to the Shetland Amenity Trust office for the second annual Pop-up bookshop event!

Visit our traditional bookshop and take your time browsing the wide selection of Shetland themed titles from Shetland Heritage Publications. Enjoy a cuppa and take advantage of the special discounts, only available at this event.

As we are celebrating Book Week Scotland, you can can also pick up your free copy of this years official book 'Secrets and Confessions'.

The brand new CD and DVD to accompany the book 'Havera' will also be available for sale, for the first time at this event. Currently touring country halls and being shown by Shetland Film Club, this 64 minute film was awarded winner of the Shetland Forwirds prize for 'Best Use of Shetland Dialect in a Film' at Screenplay 2016.  The DVD is presented along with an audio CD of Pauleen Wiseman's music, specially penned and performed for the Havera book project.

The bookshop will be open between 10.00am and 4.00pm from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th November at the Shetland Amenity Trust offices in the old ice factory at Garthspool in Lerwick.

Jacqui Clark, Reading Champion at Shetland Library, will be at the event from 2.00pm on the Sunday to speak to visitors about books they have read which inlcude reference to walking in Shetland.  Jacqui is currently researching a series of 'literary walks' for development based on some of Shetland's literature and is keen to hear from the public which fictional or non-fictional walking routes they have read about.

In addition to children's books, textile, cookery, heritage and archaeological titles, there will also be a range of products from Sumburgh Head, Shetland Museum and Archives and Old Scatness. It's the perfect Christmas shopping experience.
